BASSETT, VA — The tight-knit community of Bassett is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Camden “Cam” William Trail, a vibrant and adventurous 14-year-old who died Saturday, June 7, 2025, in a tragic motocross accident. Cam was remembered as a joyful spirit whose energy and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Born on April 6, 2011, in Roanoke, Virginia, Cam was the beloved son of Calvin William “C.W.” Trail and Stephanie Lenviel Trail. His unexpected passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his bright, albeit brief, journey.

Cam lived his life to the fullest, with a boundless passion for the outdoors and anything powered by an engine. Whether he was pulling wheelies on his mountain bike, riding jet skis, tubing behind a boat, or flying across dirt tracks on his beloved dirt bike, Cam approached every adventure with fearless joy. His signature smile, infectious laugh, and boundless energy made him unforgettable.

He wasn’t just a thrill-seeker—Cam was a hardworking and determined young man who excelled in school and even ran his own business, Cam’s Lawn Care, showing maturity and entrepreneurial spirit far beyond his years. His favorite eats included Chick-fil-A, though Cook Out always held the top spot on his list.

Family and friends describe Cam as a fiercely loyal companion who cherished time spent with those he loved. He had a playful side, loved to dance—famously “flossing like a boss”—and enjoyed sharing laughter with his best friends Morgan Doss, Jeremiah Powell, Gennaro Palumbo, Anthony Ray, and Meer Taylor.

Cam was preceded in death by his five siblings; maternal grandmother, Helen Pegram; paternal grandmother, Alice Josephine Lovins; and paternal grandfather, Calvin Green Trail. He is survived by his parents; maternal grandfather Joe Lenviel; and a large, loving extended family, including aunts Susie Atkins (Jerry), Carolyn Puckett (Carl), Melinda Reel (David), Donna Trail (Rodney “Cupcake”), Lynn Scott (Brian); and uncles Coy Lawson, Andy Lenviel, and Joey Lenviel (Leah).

A funeral service honoring Camden’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Bassett, officiated by Pastor J.D. Walker. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 PM, prior to the service. Interment will be private at Philpott Dam Road Cemetery.

As the community gathers to remember and celebrate Cam’s remarkable life, his legacy of joy, resilience, and love will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Rest in peace, Cam. Your ride continues in the hearts of everyone who knew you.
