Gregg Whitcomb Shippensburg PA Obituary and Death – It is with deep sadness that the community mourns the sudden passing of Greggory “Gregg” Whitcomb, a cherished member of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Gregg’s untimely death leaves a profound void in the professional, athletic, and academic communities he so passionately served. Known for his exceptional leadership, kindness, and unwavering dedication, Gregg’s legacy will long endure in the hearts of those who knew him.

Born and raised in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, Gregg Whitcomb was a shining example of commitment both on and off the field. His formative years culminated at Shippensburg University, where he excelled as a student-athlete, scholar, and leader. Gregg’s tenure on the Shippensburg men’s soccer team from 2011 to 2014 marked him as a defensive stalwart. Over 54 games, including 51 starts, he was recognized for his grit and resilience. His leadership was acknowledged by his peers and coaches alike, as he served two years as team captain. A highlight of his athletic career was the 2013 season when he anchored a defense that achieved five shutouts and an impressive streak of 442 consecutive scoreless minutes. His dedication and performance earned him an All-PSAC Second Team selection and the distinction of a Capital One Academic All-District honoree—testament to his ability to balance rigorous academics with athletic excellence.

Gregg’s academic accomplishments were equally remarkable. He graduated in 2016 with a double major in accounting and finance, with a concentration in personal financial planning. His academic diligence earned him the prestigious NCAA Division II Degree Completion Award in 2015, recognizing his exemplary dedication to both sports and education. His involvement extended beyond the classroom and soccer field; Gregg was an active participant in student leadership and campus life, including his role as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) from 2014 to 2015. He also contributed to various outreach programs, such as Athletes Got Talent, One Night, One Wish, and Special Olympics. His memberships in Beta Gamma Sigma, the Accounting Club, and the Apple Leadership Team highlighted his multifaceted engagement with the university community.

Professionally, Gregg thrived as a Certified Public Accountant. At the time of his passing, he was a Tax Manager at Brown Plus in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. His colleagues remember him as a meticulous and compassionate professional, whose generosity and mentorship profoundly impacted his workplace. Brown Plus released a statement capturing the sentiments of many: “Gregg was more than just a colleague; he was a son, a brother, a mentor, a coach, and a friend – and most of all, he was caring.” This encapsulates the genuine warmth and dedication Gregg brought to all aspects of his life.

Gregg also dedicated himself to coaching, volunteering as an assistant coach for the Shippensburg University men’s soccer team for eight years. His commitment to guiding young athletes underscored his belief in the transformative power of sports and education.

Above all, Gregg Whitcomb was a man devoted to his family, friends, teammates, and community. His quiet confidence, generous spirit, and ability to inspire made him a beloved figure. His passing is a significant loss to the professional realm, the athletic community, and Shippensburg University. Yet, Gregg’s life remains a powerful testament to the enduring impact of kindness, leadership, and purposeful living. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
