It is with profound sorrow and immense gratitude for a life well-lived that the family of Jimmy Robert Sanders, aged 78, announces his peaceful passing on June 29, 2025, at his home in the loving presence of his family and his faithful little dog, Benji. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jimmy left this world surrounded by love—the same way he lived every day of his life.
Born and raised in Twin City, Georgia, Jimmy was the beloved son of the late Ruby Lee Sanders and Thetis Randall Sanders. From an early age, Jimmy embodied the values of hard work, faith, and family—principles that guided him throughout his life. A proud native son of Twin City, Jimmy made his mark in industrial construction as an electrician, earning a reputation not only for his skill and dedication but for his unwavering integrity and reliability.
Jimmy was a man of simple pleasures and steady habits. He found joy in the rhythm of the land, spending many of his days riding his tractor, clearing paths with his chainsaw, and lovingly tending to his pecan trees, which were as much a part of his life as the family who adored him. To those who knew him, he was a man who found contentment not in grandeur, but in the honest labor of his hands and the laughter of his grandchildren beneath the trees he cared for.
Yet, no joy in Jimmy’s life compared to the love he had for his family. His children and grandchildren were his heart and soul, and he treasured every moment with them. Whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply sitting together in the quiet comfort of each other’s company, Jimmy was most alive when surrounded by those he loved.
A pillar of faith and humility, Jimmy was a lifelong and devoted member of El Bethel Baptist Church. For thirty-eight years, he served faithfully as a deacon, leading by example and demonstrating what it truly meant to live a Christ-centered life. For many years, he also lovingly took charge of the children’s nursery, nurturing the youngest members of the congregation with patience, warmth, and a twinkle in his eye. His impact on the church community is deep and lasting—he led not just with his words, but with his actions and his heart.
Jimmy’s love story with his cherished wife, Glenda Lanier Sanders, was a shining light in his life. Married for fifty-six years, theirs was a bond rooted in devotion, mutual respect, and deep affection. Her passing preceded his, and the loss was deeply felt, yet he continued to honor her memory daily, living the life they built together with grace and quiet strength.
Jimmy is now reunited with Glenda, his parents, and all those who went before him. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, his legacy will endure in the memories, values, and love he instilled in everyone who had the honor of knowing him.
He is survived by a loving family who will carry forward his legacy of love, faith, and hard work. His story is one of devotion—to his craft, his family, his church, and his community. Those who knew Jimmy remember a man who was always ready to lend a hand, offer a word of wisdom, and share a laugh.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held at El Bethel Baptist Church, where friends, family, and community members will gather to honor a life so richly and humbly lived.
In his memory, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the children’s ministry at El Bethel Baptist Church—a cause Jimmy lovingly supported for many years.
Rest well, Jimmy. Your hands may be still, but your spirit lives on—in the laughter of your grandchildren, the rustling of the pecan trees, the warm embrace of a loving church family, and the hearts of all who loved you.
