In the quiet town of Bremen, Georgia, residents are reeling from a violent and unexpected incident that occurred early Saturday morning, sending shockwaves through the community. A 31-year-old man, identified as Ramario Monuma, has been formally charged with aggravated assault following a brutal stabbing that left a 33-year-old woman—reportedly a well-known and respected manager at the local Hardee’s restaurant—hospitalized with serious injuries.
The stabbing took place in the early hours of Saturday, June 28, near a residential area just off Highway 27, not far from the Hardee’s where the victim worked. According to initial reports from the Bremen Police Department, officers responded to a 911 call shortly after 4:00 a.m. about a domestic disturbance involving a weapon. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical personnel were immediately dispatched, and she was rushed to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton before later being transferred to a trauma facility in Atlanta due to the severity of her injuries.
Witnesses told authorities that screaming was heard from the residence shortly before the police were called. A neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, said, “We heard yelling and then it suddenly turned into blood-curdling screams. We didn’t know what was going on but called 911 as soon as we realized someone was in real danger.”
Police quickly identified and apprehended Ramario Monuma, who was reportedly still at the scene when officers arrived. He was taken into custody without incident. Monuma has been charged with aggravated assault, and investigators have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues and more evidence is reviewed.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact nature of the relationship between Monuma and the victim, though preliminary information suggests they may have known each other. The motive for the attack is still under investigation, and police have remained tight-lipped about any potential background details or prior incidents between the two.
Monuma is currently being held at the Haralson County Jail without bond, pending his first court appearance.
The stabbing has stunned residents of Bremen, a town known for its quiet neighborhoods and close-knit community. The victim, whose name has not been released to the public out of respect for her privacy and recovery, is a familiar face to many locals. She has worked as a manager at the town’s Hardee’s for several years and is described by coworkers and customers alike as “hard-working,” “friendly,” and “kind-hearted.”
“She always greeted everyone with a smile, even when the store was slammed,” said Teresa Manning, a Bremen resident and regular customer. “It’s horrifying to think something like this happened to her.”
Local business owners and community members have already begun organizing support for the victim and her family. A GoFundMe page is reportedly in the works to help cover medical expenses and any time she may need away from work as she recovers physically and emotionally from the attack.
Bremen Police Chief Keith Pesnell held a brief press conference on Sunday afternoon, urging anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward. He emphasized that while the suspect is in custody, investigators are still piecing together the full picture of what led to the violence.
“We want to make sure that justice is fully served,” Pesnell said. “We also want to ensure the community that this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.”
The victim remains in stable but serious condition. Family members have asked for privacy during this difficult time but expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community. Many locals have taken to social media to express their sympathy and share messages of strength and recovery.
The Hardee’s location where she worked remains open, but staff are said to be devastated by the news. A small memorial with candles and flowers has been set up near the entrance in her honor.
As Bremen comes to terms with the tragic event, community leaders have called for unity and compassion.
“This is a time for Bremen to come together, to support one another, and to lift up this woman and her family,” said Pastor Jordan Ellis of First Baptist Church of Bremen. “Violence of any kind has no place here, and we will stand together to heal.”
