Chad Burton Urbandale IA Obituary and Death – With deep sadness, the communities of Urbandale and Davenport, Iowa, mourn the sudden passing of Chad Burton, who died on June 29, 2025, at the age of 44. Chad was a former manager at Guru BBQ in Des Moines and was known widely as a devoted father, friend, and cherished community member whose kindness and vibrant personality left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Born on December 6, 1980, Chad grew up in Urbandale, Iowa, where his warm nature and natural charisma distinguished him from an early age. He attended Davenport West High School, graduating in 1999, before pursuing higher education at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), earning a degree in Political Science in 2005. Chad’s academic journey reflected his intellectual curiosity and commitment to civic engagement, underscoring his desire to understand and connect with the world around him.

Professionally, Chad’s career took various paths, but he is fondly remembered for his leadership as manager at Guru BBQ in Des Moines between December 2015 and December 2016. During this time, he was admired for his integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to foster a welcoming atmosphere for both employees and patrons alike. Chad’s enthusiasm was infectious; his laughter was a common and treasured sound within the restaurant, and his ability to make people feel appreciated made him stand out as a leader and friend.

Beyond his professional life, Chad’s proudest role was that of a father. He was the devoted dad to two children, Andrew and Lainey, who were the center of his world. Those close to Chad recall how his face would light up when talking about his children. He was a present and loving father who never missed an opportunity to show them affection, encouragement, and support. His passing leaves a profound void in their lives, though his love remains an enduring legacy that will guide them through the years ahead.

A close friend shared heartfelt words upon hearing the news of Chad’s death:
“Andrew and Lainey lost their father today. I lost a dear friend. And the world lost a man with a spark so bright it could light up any room. We all carry our own perfect memories of Chad—moments filled with joy, laughter, and love that will forever live in our hearts. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering love touched so many lives. His spirit will never be forgotten.”

Chad was celebrated for his quick wit, deep empathy, and his unique ability to bring light into even the darkest moments. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether reconnecting with friends in Urbandale, engaging with new acquaintances in Des Moines, or spending quiet time with his children, Chad lived authentically and with great heart.

After his time in Des Moines, Chad moved back to Davenport in 2016, continuing to be a beloved presence in his family and community. His hometown of Urbandale and the surrounding communities will always hold his memory dearly.

As family and friends gather to grieve this profound loss, they also express gratitude for having had Chad in their lives. Details regarding memorial services will be shared in due course. Those wishing to honor Chad’s memory are encouraged to share stories, photos, and tributes celebrating the warmth, humor, and compassion that defined his life.

Chad Burton’s light shone brightly during his time with us, and his legacy of kindness and love will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Chad.
