It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jill May Johnson, who departed this life on May 29, 2025, at the age of 45. Jill was a radiant force whose presence lit up every room she entered, and her departure leaves an ache that words can scarcely touch. Jill was a woman whose zest for life and compassion for others were evident in everything she did.

Born in 1979, Jill grew up surrounded by the love of her family and developed early on the zest for life and bold curiosity that would come to define her. From a young age, she was known for her boundless energy, her sense of humor that could lift spirits on even the darkest days, and a heart so open and generous that it drew people in with ease. Jill’s life was a tapestry of colorful experiences and cherished moments, woven together with her infectious laughter, adventurous spirit, and deep sense of compassion.

Those fortunate enough to know Jill will remember her vibrant spirit, her infectious laughter, and a unique ability to make anyone feel seen and valued. She had a gift for connecting with others, offering warmth and encouragement, and creating bonds that lasted a lifetime. Jill made every person she encountered feel important, whether she was chatting with a stranger or spending time with a close friend. She made it her mission to show people the beauty in themselves, reminding them that their presence mattered and that life was meant to be celebrated.

Her love for life was contagious—whether she was hiking a new trail, traveling to unfamiliar places, dancing without inhibition, or simply sipping coffee on the porch with a friend, Jill immersed herself in the moment. She believed deeply in living fully and authentically, and she encouraged those around her to do the same. For Jill, life was about embracing every opportunity, finding joy in the everyday moments, and sharing her unique energy with others. She lived with an open heart, always seeking to learn and experience new things, and she approached every challenge with a positive attitude and determination.

At the heart of Jill’s life was compassion. She extended kindness to everyone—strangers, animals, friends, and family alike. Her love was not conditional; she gave freely, and her empathy had no boundaries. Whether offering a listening ear, giving a heartfelt hug, or sharing a laugh to brighten someone’s day, Jill made everyone feel valued. She had an uncanny ability to make others feel at ease, and her presence was a source of comfort to all who knew her. Jill believed that even the smallest acts of kindness could change someone’s world, and she lived by this belief every single day.

Jill’s family was the center of her universe, and she held them close with a fierce love that was unwavering. She shared an unshakeable bond with her mother, Karen Jo MacDonald, who was not only her parent but also her closest confidante and greatest supporter. Their relationship was one of deep respect and mutual admiration, built over years of shared experiences and memories. Jill’s love for her family extended beyond her mother; she was also a devoted sister, cousin, and friend, and her family always knew they could rely on her for love and support.

In addition to her family, Jill had a large circle of friends who adored her. They described her as a rock—someone who was always there in times of need, a source of light during dark times, and a constant reminder that life should be lived with passion and joy. Jill’s friends recall her as a woman who never hesitated to offer a hand when needed, whether it was providing emotional support, helping with a project, or just offering a warm smile. Her friendship was a gift, and her absence leaves a void that can never be filled.

Jill’s professional life was marked by a similar sense of dedication and care. Whether she was working in education, healthcare, or any of her other endeavors, she approached her work with the same enthusiasm and commitment she gave to everything in life. She was known for her reliability, integrity, and willingness to go the extra mile for the people she served. She brought the same sense of compassion and positivity to her work that she did to her personal life, making an impact on everyone she encountered.

Beyond her work and relationships, Jill had many passions. She loved the outdoors, and hiking was one of her favorite activities. Whether on a quiet trail or exploring a new natural wonder, she found peace in nature and relished the time spent outdoors. She had a deep love for animals, and her affection for them was a reflection of her kindness and caring nature. Jill also had a keen interest in learning and was a lifelong reader. Her curiosity about the world and her thirst for knowledge were qualities that fueled her desire for growth and discovery.

Holidays were always special for Jill, a time for family gatherings, meals filled with laughter, and the creation of lasting memories. She was known for her enthusiasm in making holiday traditions come alive, ensuring that her family and friends felt warmth and joy in every celebration. From decorating the house to cooking delicious meals, Jill brought her infectious spirit to every gathering, creating a sense of togetherness that will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to be part of her life.

Jill was preceded in death by her father, and she leaves behind her loving mother, Karen, her siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide network of friends who loved her deeply. She was the kind of person who made everyone feel like family, and her passing has left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her legacy is not measured by accolades or accomplishments but by the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the joy she spread.

A memorial service will be held in the coming days to honor Jill’s life and celebrate the many ways she impacted the world. Her family invites all those who loved her to come together, share stories, and find solace in one another’s presence. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local animal shelter or mental health organization, causes that were close to Jill’s heart.

Though Jill’s life was tragically cut short, her memory will live on in the countless hearts she touched. Her legacy of kindness, authenticity, and love will continue to inspire those who knew her to live life fully and with an open heart, just as Jill did. While she may no longer be with us physically, her spirit will forever be present in the laughter, love, and cherished memories she leaves behind.

Rest in peace, Jill May Johnson. You will be missed more than words can express, and you will be remembered forever with love, gratitude, and admiration.
