The Bronx, NY — The NYPD is seeking the public’s help in locating two burglars responsible for a series of break-ins at five different Bronx stores, primarily bodegas and convenience shops, since June 24, 2025. According to police, the suspects have been targeting local businesses in the early hours of the morning, breaking into security gates and smashing glass doors to steal cash from registers and merchandise. The latest incident took place on July 1, marking the most recent in a string of daring robberies that have left residents and business owners on edge.
The crime spree began in late June when the suspects hit the Super Laundromat on Morris Ave. near McClellan St. in the Concourse section of the Bronx. The burglars struck shortly after 3 a.m., breaking into the laundromat by forcefully opening the security gate and smashing the glass door to access the business. Once inside, they made off with $200 from the cash register, according to police reports.
But the Super Laundromat incident was just the beginning. The same burglars repeated their pattern of destruction at several other businesses in the following days. All of the robberies occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., with the suspects managing to break open heavy-duty locks on security gates and forcibly entering the stores. Once inside, the criminals quickly targeted cash registers and took what they could, leaving little behind in their wake.
In total, at least three groceries and bodegas have been targeted in the crime spree, all located within a short distance of each other in the same police precinct, authorities reported. Despite the fact that no injuries have been reported in any of the burglaries, business owners and employees are still left to grapple with the damage and the significant losses.
The second break-in, which took place on the same day as the initial robbery, was the most successful for the thieves. This time, the burglars struck Mart 33 Convenience store, located on E. 167th St. near Grant Ave., just a block away from the first break-in. After once again breaking through the security gate and smashing the door, the burglars made off with $1,500 in cash from the register and a staggering $1,000 worth of cigarettes.
The suspects appear to have taken advantage of the late hours when the stores were closed, targeting small businesses with minimal staff present. The stolen cash and merchandise from these robberies are likely a significant blow to these local businesses, many of which operate in tight-knit communities in the Bronx. Residents have expressed concern about the ongoing string of burglaries and are eager for answers.
Surveillance footage released by the NYPD on Saturday shows the suspects in question, including one individual who was seen wearing a New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) hoodie. While police have not yet identified the burglars, they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
At this stage, authorities have not disclosed how the suspects were able to bypass the heavy-duty locks on the security gates, which are typically designed to prevent break-ins. These details have led some to believe the criminals may have used advanced tools or specialized knowledge of the gates’ mechanisms.
Despite these challenges, the NYPD is working tirelessly to track down the suspects and prevent further incidents. Detective units have been investigating the evidence, and they are hopeful that the release of the surveillance images will lead to tips from the public that could help identify the burglars.
In the meantime, local residents are taking to social media to share the images and warn their neighbors. Many have expressed concerns about the safety of local businesses and are hoping that these crimes will be resolved quickly.
“These stores are essential parts of our community,” one local resident said. “People depend on them, and it’s really upsetting to see them targeted like this.”
The NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline has been activated, and anyone with information is encouraged to call (800) 577-TIPS. The department has assured the public that all calls will be kept confidential, and tips leading to the identification or arrest of the suspects could result in a reward.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are still piecing together the details of the crime spree and following up on any leads. Residents in the area are being asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
The string of robberies has raised broader concerns about the safety of small businesses in the area and the resources available to prevent such crimes. While the NYPD continues to investigate, the ongoing loss of income from these burglaries has had a real impact on business owners who are already dealing with the financial strain of running a small business in a challenging economic environment.
The community remains hopeful that with the help of the public and the continued efforts of law enforcement, the suspects will soon be apprehended and brought to justice. In the meantime, the residents of the Bronx and the owners of these businesses are left with a reminder of the vulnerabilities that exist in their communities and the importance of coming together to support each other in the face of adversity.
As the investigation progresses, it is clear that these robberies are not just crimes against businesses—they are crimes against the entire community. The loss of money and goods is only part of the story; the emotional toll on those affected by the break-ins is also significant. In many cases, small businesses represent the heart of a neighborhood, and the damage caused by these burglaries is felt deeply by everyone who relies on them.
With the ongoing investigation, the NYPD is committed to solving these crimes and bringing the culprits to justice. The community is encouraged to stay vigilant and report any relevant information, as even the smallest tip could help solve this case and prevent further burglaries in the future.
