With broken hearts, the family, friends, and community of Lewisville, Indiana, mourn the sudden and tragic loss of Cody Alan Denney, who passed away late Wednesday evening, July 2, 2025, at the age of 33, following a devastating motorcycle accident. His passing has left a gaping hole in the lives of everyone who knew him, as they now struggle to come to terms with the absence of a man who was known for his warmth, loyalty, and infectious spirit. Cody, affectionately known as “DJ” to those closest to him, was a beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, leader, and adventurer whose life was full of love, laughter, and promise. His untimely death has sent shockwaves through his family and community, but his legacy—marked by a deep commitment to living life fully and with purpose—will live on in the hearts of all those he touched.

Born and raised in New Castle, Indiana, Cody was a proud graduate of New Castle High School. His intellect, determination, and desire to grow were evident early on, qualities that led him to earn two degrees in Business from Ball State University and Ivy Tech Community College. Cody’s academic achievements were not just a reflection of his ability to succeed but also his unwavering commitment to self-improvement and progress. He was always seeking to learn, grow, and better himself, and he carried these values with him throughout his career and personal life. His success in both his education and his professional life was driven by a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the world around him.

Since 2023, Cody worked at HSM Solutions in New Castle, where his leadership, work ethic, and heart earned him a promotion to Plant Manager—a role he embraced with humility and pride. In his professional capacity, Cody believed in the importance of uplifting others, and he frequently spoke about the legacy he hoped to leave behind. His leadership was not about titles or accolades; it was about fostering a positive and supportive environment where his team could thrive. Cody’s approach to leadership was grounded in kindness, integrity, and genuine care for others, and he inspired those around him to always do their best and treat others with respect and empathy.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Cody was a man of many passions. An adventurer at heart, he found joy in traveling, hunting, fishing, and embracing the great outdoors—interests he inherited from his father and shared with his loved ones. Cody’s love for the outdoors was not just a hobby; it was a way of life. Whether it was spending time in nature or embarking on exciting expeditions with friends, he lived for the experiences that allowed him to connect with the world in a meaningful way. He was particularly proud of two off-grid Canadian expeditions, where he lived off the land with friends, returning each time filled with excitement and stories to share. These adventures reflected Cody’s adventurous spirit, his thirst for exploration, and his deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.

In 2022, Cody purchased his first Ducati motorcycle, quickly developing a love for the open road. His enthusiasm for motorcycling was more than just a passion for speed; it symbolized his love for freedom and adventure. He dreamed of buying a Harley Davidson to ride alongside his sisters and their partners, creating memories together that would have lasted a lifetime. Tragically, those plans were never realized, but the memories of Cody riding with joy and enthusiasm will remain forever in the hearts of his loved ones. For Cody, the open road was a place of liberation, joy, and self-expression, and it became a part of the legacy he left behind.

Cody was also a devoted gym-goer, music lover, and family man. His presence lit up every space he entered, and he had an innate ability to make people feel at ease. Cody was never too busy to check in on his mother, joke around with his siblings, or spend time with his niece and nephews, who meant the world to him. While he didn’t have children of his own, his nurturing spirit made him a father figure to many, especially to his younger brother, Jace, whom he protected fiercely and guided with quiet strength. The bond between Cody and his siblings was one built on love, trust, and respect, and it was clear that he always made time for the people he cared about most. His family was everything to him, and they were a constant source of support and love throughout his life.

Cody’s bond with his girlfriend, Elaina Marino, of Miami, FL, was one of true love and mutual support. The two shared a deep connection, and Cody often spoke of the future they were building together. He adored Elaina and looked forward to a life filled with shared adventures, love, and joy. Cody’s two dogs, Leo and Sophie, completed his world, and he treated them with the same affection and care he gave to everyone close to him. His pets were not just animals to him—they were family, and he showered them with love and attention.

To know Cody was to feel seen, heard, and loved. His infectious smile, booming laughter, and ability to make others feel important left an indelible mark on every life he touched. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone around him feel like they mattered, and his genuine interest in others made him a beloved friend, family member, and colleague. Cody’s generosity of spirit and his unwavering loyalty to the people he cared about are qualities that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Cody is survived by his parents, Terry “Stretch” Denney and Cathy Berrett, both of New Castle; his siblings, Terri Brooke Ewing (Mike Vaccaro), Kati Denney (Dustin Robinson), and Jace Stevens; his treasured niece and nephews, Finley Ewing, Carter Denney, and Brancyn Ewing; his maternal grandmother, Mavis Cole; his beloved girlfriend Elaina Marino; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arnold and Brenda Denney; his Papaw John Cole; uncles Brad Denney and Randy Cole; stepmother Linda Denney; and dear friend Todd Stockton.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, officiated by lifelong family friend, Rev. Paul Davis. Burial will follow at Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 10 at the funeral home. In Cody’s honor, motorcyclists are encouraged to ride in the funeral procession, symbolizing the freedom and passion that defined his life.

Cody Alan Denney’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and living life to the fullest. Though he is gone far too soon, his light remains in every heart he touched. His family and friends will continue to carry forward the lessons he taught them—lessons of love, adventure, and the importance of making every moment count. Cody’s impact on the world was profound, and his spirit will live on in the memories, stories, and love that remain. Rest in peace, Cody. Your road now stretches beyond the horizon, and your legacy will never be forgotten.
