WALDOBORO, Maine (WGME) — A Maine man has been charged with murder following the death of a Waldoboro woman last week, according to Maine State Police.
Arrest of Suspect
Authorities say 49-year-old James Clark, of Damariscotta, was taken into custody in Volusia County, Florida, after allegedly fleeing the state in the aftermath of the killing.
Clark is accused in the death of Levern Kelly, whose body was discovered in Waldoboro.
Swift Investigation
Following a rapid investigation, law enforcement identified Clark as a suspect. A warrant for his arrest was issued, and he was located in Florida with the assistance of local authorities.
Ongoing Investigation
Officials have not yet released details about the motive or cause of death. Investigators say Clark will face extradition proceedings to return to Maine, where he will be formally charged and tried.
