The community of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 20-year-old Spencer Lehmkuhl, who tragically died in a motorcycle crash on August 9, 2025. The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of North Union Boulevard and Garmish Road, just north of Union and Vickers, a location now marked by grief for Spencer’s family and friends.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers were dispatched around 6:06 p.m. after receiving reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV. Despite the immediate response of emergency medical personnel, Spencer was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed his identity, leaving loved ones devastated by the sudden loss of such a promising young life.

A Life Full of Spirit and Adventure

At only 20 years old, Spencer embraced life with an adventurous and fearless spirit. Friends and family describe him as compassionate, fun-loving, and curious, with a passion for motorcycling that reflected his love for freedom and exploration. His infectious smile, unwavering loyalty, and vibrant energy left lasting impressions on everyone he met.

Motorcycling was more than a hobby for Spencer—it was an extension of his personality, a symbol of his free-spirited nature. Beyond that, he will be remembered as a devoted son, brother, and friend, someone who consistently offered laughter, support, and kindness to those around him.

    A Community Impacted by Tragedy

Spencer’s passing marks the 35th traffic-related fatality in Colorado Springs this year, compared to 37 during the same period last year. Authorities have since reminded motorists and motorcyclists alike of the importance of vigilance and roadway safety, a sobering reality underscored by this devastating loss.

While investigations into the crash are ongoing, Spencer’s family has encouraged the community to honor his memory by celebrating the love, adventure, and joy he shared during his life. Memorial service details are expected to be announced soon, giving family and friends an opportunity to gather in remembrance.

    Remembering Spencer

Tributes have poured in across social media, with friends recalling the adventures, laughter, and countless memories they shared with Spencer. One touching message read: “You never wasted a moment, Spence. I’ll always remember the rides and the laughs. Ride in peace, brother.”

Local motorcycle groups have also expressed plans to organize a memorial ride in his honor, a fitting tribute to his passion for the open road.

Though his time was far too brief, Spencer Lehmkuhl leaves behind a legacy of adventure, kindness, and love. His memory will forever inspire those who knew him to cherish every moment, live fully, and hold loved ones close.

Rest in peace, Spencer. Your light continues to shine in the hearts of all who loved you.
