A St. Clair County family is grieving after 49-year-old Harold Schaedler was struck and killed in a hit-and-run while riding his motorized bike in Cahokia Heights, Illinois. His loved ones say they are desperate for answers and justice.

    What Happened

On Saturday evening, August 23, 2025, Harold Schaedler left his Belleville-area home to ride his motorized bike along Illinois Route 157 near Foley Drive. He was expected to return later that night but never did.

    Who Is Harold Schaedler

Harold Schaedler was a father of five and a grandfather who loved fishing, the outdoors, and spending time with his family. His daughter, Sierra Meskil, described him as an “amazing dad” who cared deeply for his children and grandchildren.

“He didn’t deserve that. My siblings, his grandchildren, we cannot believe he’s gone,” she said tearfully.
