Chris Cooper, a devoted father, husband, and friend, has passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at the age of 75. After a courageous battle with Frontotemporal dementia, which he had been living with since his diagnosis in December 2018, Chris’s passing marks the end of an extraordinary life full of kindness, professionalism, and a love for travel.

    What Happened

Chris dedicated over three decades of his life to British Airways, where he served as a long-haul Cabin Service Director (CSD) from 1974 until his retirement in 2005. Throughout his distinguished career, he worked aboard various aircraft, including the Tristar (L1011), Boeing 747, and Boeing 777. Chris’s commitment to his role was unmatched, and beyond his in-flight duties, he also served as a Cabin Crew Instructor, mentoring many future flight attendants. Additionally, he spent time in Doha, working on the Emir of Qatar’s private jet, a testament to his diverse experience in the aviation industry.

Chris’s colleagues and mentees remember him not only for his professionalism but also for his warmth and kindness. His positive influence on those around him left a lasting impact, both in the skies and on the ground.

    Reactions

After retiring from British Airways at age 55, Chris continued to live out his love for travel by becoming a Tour Manager with Bales Worldwide and later with Great Rail Journeys. His work allowed him to keep exploring the world and share his passion for travel with others, creating unforgettable experiences for countless travelers along the way.

Outside of his professional life, Chris was known as a deeply caring and polite man who cherished family above all else. His personal life was equally rich, as he was happily married to his late wife, Pamela Cooper (1951–2021), a former long-haul Purser with British Airways. Together, they shared a lifetime of adventures, love, and travel. Their bond now lives on as Chris is reunited with Pamela.

    What’s Next

Chris’s family invites those wishing to honor his memory to reach out for details about his funeral service. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and passion for life will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
