It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt condolences that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Allocco, a beloved business owner, devoted community leader, and cherished friend. Mike passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, leaving behind a legacy that has deeply touched the hearts of many throughout the New Providence and Berkeley Heights communities.

    What Happened

A proud New Jersey native, Mike was much more than a successful entrepreneur. He was a mentor, a supporter, and a cornerstone of his community. As the founder and owner of Special-Tees Unlimited in Berkeley Heights, Mike built a business that was known not only for its quality and service but also for its commitment to giving back. Whether it was outfitting local sports teams, supporting school fundraisers, or quietly donating to causes close to home, Mike’s generosity knew no bounds.

Before achieving success in business, Mike was a standout athlete at Stonehill College, where he left a lasting impression as a basketball legend. His competitive spirit, teamwork, and dedication on the court translated into every aspect of his life. Those same values helped shape the leader, friend, and family man that so many came to love and respect.

    Reactions

Mike’s influence was felt far beyond his business and athletic achievements. He was a tireless supporter of local events, youth sports, and community initiatives. More than anything, Mike had a gift for making people feel seen and supported—always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, or a solution to a problem. His presence brought comfort and strength, and his sudden passing leaves a void that words can hardly express.

“Mike was the kind of person who made a town feel like a community,” shared a longtime friend. “His loyalty, generosity, and warmth created bonds that will never be broken. He had a way of lifting people up without expecting anything in return.”

    What’s Next

Mike’s legacy of selflessness, leadership, and community spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him. A memorial service will be planned in the coming days to honor Mike’s life and the incredible contributions he made to his family, friends, and community. His family, loved ones, and the countless individuals whose lives he touched will gather to celebrate his memory and the extraordinary impact he had on those around him.

    Closing Line

Rest in peace, Mike. You will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered. Your memory will forever remain a part of the communities you served so selflessly.
