On September 11, 2001, the world lost a remarkable woman, Tara Yvette Hobbs, who was tragically taken during the attacks on the World Trade Center. Known for her infectious smile, her dedication to keeping in touch with everyone in her life, and her deep love for family and friends, Tara’s legacy continues to live on through the memories of those who knew her.

    What Happened

Tara Hobbs was just 31 years old when she was taken from us on that fateful day. Working at Aon in the World Trade Center’s North Tower, she had built a successful career in the insurance industry. A few days before the tragedy, Tara had received her license to sell health and life insurance, marking a new chapter in her professional journey. She was planning to marry her fiancé, Paul Lalanne, the following year, and together they had dreams of opening an office for Primerica, an insurance company under Citigroup.

Tara’s work was only one part of her multifaceted life. She had a wide circle of friends and family, and as the “e-mail queen,” she kept in touch with everyone—whether they were from middle school, high school, college, work, or her social circle. Always the one to organize reunions and gatherings, Tara had a gift for bringing people together.

    Reactions

Tara’s sister, Sherian Hobbs, fondly recalled the bond they shared growing up. “She was always there with a smile, never in the way, and always happy,” Sherian said. Tara was the youngest of five children, and her close relationship with her siblings remained strong throughout her life. Sherian, the oldest, shared a heartwarming memory: “When Tara was 8 and I was 16, I took her with me on my dates. We ate ice creams and walked around the neighborhood, just enjoying each other’s company.”

Tara’s friends remember her as someone who was always there for others—whether it was through e-mail or in person, she had a way of making everyone feel loved and included. Her warmth, positivity, and organizational skills meant that she played an integral role in the lives of those around her.

Her fiancé, Paul Lalanne, and her plans for a future together reflect her deep commitment to building a life filled with love, partnership, and purpose.

    What’s Next

The loss of Tara Hobbs is a stark reminder of the lives that were taken far too soon in the 9/11 tragedy. Though the physical loss of Tara is irreparable, the love and memories she left behind continue to shape the lives of those who knew her. Her family, friends, and colleagues remember her not only as a talented professional but as a beloved individual who put others first.

The legacy of Tara Yvette Hobbs is a testament to the power of human connection. She kept her loved ones close and fostered relationships that will live on in her memory. While her life was tragically cut short, the love she spread, the moments she shared, and the bonds she created will forever remain.

    Closing

This is a developing story. We will update this article as more information becomes available.

Tara’s life may have been brief, but it was filled with meaning and love. In her honor, we will continue to remember her, celebrate her legacy, and reflect on the beauty of life and connection that she embodied every day.
