It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Coach Eric Bridges, a beloved teacher, coach, and mentor at Florence Middle School. Eric passed away tragically in a car accident, and his loss has left an immense void in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Florence community.
For nearly 20 years, Coach Bridges dedicated his life to shaping the lives of students and athletes in Florence. He was more than a coach—he was a leader, a role model, and a constant source of encouragement and support. Whether on the field, in the classroom, or in the community, Eric brought a passion for teaching and a deep commitment to every child he encountered.
His impact extended far beyond wins and losses. Coach Bridges instilled values of hard work, character, and perseverance in every athlete who wore the Eagle uniform. He celebrated their victories, guided them through challenges, and helped mold them into responsible and confident young adults. His influence will forever live on in the lives he touched.
Eric’s warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. He was known for his positive outlook, humble spirit, and his ability to uplift those around him. To many, he was not just a coach, but a friend, a mentor, and a guiding light.
His absence will be deeply felt—not only in the halls of Florence Middle School but throughout the entire city. The Florence community will never be the same without him, but his legacy will continue to inspire.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church Florence on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a celebration of life service to follow.
To the Bridges family, we extend our heartfelt condolences. May you find comfort in knowing how deeply Eric was loved and respected. His life, though tragically cut short, made a lasting impact.
Rest in peace, Coach Bridges. You will be missed, remembered, and honored always.
