It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic news of the passing of Kennedi Marie DeMuth, aged 25, of Fullerton, Nebraska. Kennedi died on September 17, 2025, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, surrounded by her loving family. She was the victim of a devastating shooting incident in Columbus, Nebraska, on September 16, 2025. Authorities have since confirmed that her boyfriend, Jack Reeg, 25, has been taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death.
Kennedi was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, and had become a cherished member of the Fullerton community. Her life was marked by warmth, kindness, and a deep love for her family and friends. Those who knew her remember Kennedi as a vibrant young woman with a generous spirit and a bright smile that could light up any room.
Her untimely passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of all who knew her. As her family and community mourn this heartbreaking loss, they also celebrate the beautiful memories and legacy Kennedi leaves behind. Though her life was tragically cut short, the impact she made during her 25 years will never be forgotten.
A funeral service to honor Kennedi’s life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton, with Reverend Vern Olson officiating. Family, friends, and community members are invited to pay their respects and celebrate her life during visitation on Sunday, September 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the same church. Following the funeral service, Kennedi will be laid to rest at Fullerton Cemetery in Fullerton.
