18 Months On: The Unanswered Disappearance of 23-Year-Old Jack O’Sullivan Leaves Family Desperate for Answers

Bristol, England — October 6, 2025: It has been 18 months since 23-year-old Jack O’Sullivan vanished after leaving a party in Bristol, and his family still have no answers. What was meant to be an ordinary night out with friends on March 2, 2024, turned into a family’s worst nightmare — one that has yet to end.

What Happened the Night Jack Went Missing

Jack O’Sullivan, a student from Neath living in Bristol, attended a party with friends that Friday night. Around 1:00am, he texted his parents, letting them know he planned to get a taxi home. CCTV footage later captured him at 3:17am near Brunel Lock Way and Brunel Way, seemingly trying to find a cab.

Moments later, at 3:40am, Jack was seen again heading back toward Hotwells, close to where the party had taken place. During that time, he also attempted to call a friend, but the call abruptly ended right after he said “hello.”

When his parents, Catherine and Alan, woke up and realized he hadn’t come home by 5:00am, panic set in. Hours later, phone data placed his mobile at a property on Granby Hill at 5:40am, where it stayed connected for just over an hour — but neither Jack nor his phone has ever been found.

The Painful Search and Lingering Questions

Despite extensive searches by police, volunteers, and divers, not a single piece of solid evidence has been uncovered. No personal belongings, no trace of movement beyond the last CCTV sighting, and no explanation for why his phone suddenly went silent.

Jack’s mother, Catherine, has described the situation as “feeling like Jack has been abducted by an alien.” In a heartfelt interview, she said:

“We don’t have any evidence at all, so we have to keep his name out there, keep his story out there, and keep asking questions.”

The mystery surrounding his disappearance has left the O’Sullivan family trapped in uncertainty — living, as Catherine says, “through our worst possible nightmare.”

“At times it’s hard to believe it’s actually happening because everything feels so surreal. The world carries on around us, but for me, my world has stopped. We kind of exist really — we don’t live,” she added.

A Campaign Fueled by Hope and Determination

The Find Jack campaign has become a powerful movement. More than 100,000 people have joined the campaign’s Facebook group, united by compassion and hope. Over £59,000 has been raised to fund search efforts, while a £100,000 reward from a generous benefactor remains on offer for any information leading to Jack’s whereabouts.

From television interviews to media appeals and social media awareness drives, Catherine and Alan have refused to let Jack’s name fade from public attention. Their resilience has inspired countless others, even as official progress in the investigation remains frustratingly slow.

    A Mother’s Unwavering Promise

For Jack’s parents, every day without answers is another day of heartbreak. Catherine remains steadfast, determined to uncover the truth, no matter how long it takes.

“I don’t have an answer. I don’t know what’s happened to Jack, and I can’t just accept that that’s the way it is,” she said.
“I have to keep this going because I know if we don’t as a family, it’ll all disappear. As far as the police are concerned, they would like this all to disappear.”

Her words capture the unbearable silence that surrounds Jack’s case — and the unbreakable love that drives her fight to keep searching.

    How the Public Can Help

Anyone with information about Jack O’Sullivan’s disappearance — no matter how small — is urged to contact Avon and Somerset Police or reach out anonymously via Crimestoppers UK.

The Find Jack Facebook page continues to share updates, organize community awareness events, and keep Jack’s story alive.

This story may be updated as new details emerge.
