Ralph Deslauriers, the visionary founder of Bolton Valley Resort in Vermont, has passed away at the age of 90. A pioneer in the state’s ski industry, Deslauriers’ legacy lives on through his transformative impact on winter sports, his dedication to small businesses, and his deep connection to the local community.

    Who Was Ralph Deslauriers

Ralph Deslauriers made an indelible mark on Vermont’s ski industry when he co-founded Bolton Valley Resort with his father in 1966. What began as a modest ski operation grew into a beloved destination known for its inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. Deslauriers’ work ethic, vision, and passion for skiing made Bolton Valley a staple in the Vermont ski community.

In 1997, Deslauriers sold the resort but returned in 2017 to purchase it back alongside local investors. This time, he ran the resort with his children—Lindsay, Evan, and Adam—preserving the resort’s independent spirit and turning it into one of the last independently owned mountains in the state.

    Legacy Beyond Skiing

Deslauriers’ contributions to the ski industry extended beyond Bolton Valley. In 1978, he was selected to represent Vermont at the White House Conference on Small Business, showcasing his advocacy for small businesses. His work also earned him a place in the Vermont Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame in 2022, solidifying his place as a true pioneer in the world of skiing.

    Public and Social Media Reactions

The news of Deslauriers’ passing has been met with an outpouring of grief and admiration from the skiing community, local businesses, and residents. Many have shared stories of his generosity, dedication, and the profound influence he had on the skiing landscape in Vermont.

    Closing Line:

Ralph Deslauriers’ legacy will forever be woven into the fabric of Vermont’s ski industry and local communities. His pioneering spirit, commitment to small businesses, and love for skiing will continue to inspire future generations. Rest in peace, Ralph—you will be greatly missed.
