Three young children, including an eight-month-old baby, have been taken to the hospital in Scotland after their pram was struck by a trailer in an incident in Dumfries. The three children, aged 8 months, 14 months, and 18 months, were initially taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary before being transferred to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow for further treatment.
What Happened
The accident occurred on Pleasance Avenue in Dumfries at around 3:15 p.m. on Monday. According to authorities, a trailer, which had detached from a Mitsubishi Outlander car, struck the pram that was being pushed on the pavement. The 18-year-old woman who was pushing the pram was also taken to the hospital for treatment but was later discharged.
Investigation and Road Closure
In response to the incident, the road was closed to allow for a full investigation of the scene. Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit is leading the inquiry into what caused the trailer to become detached and hit the pram. Sergeant David Kerr, part of the unit, said that their investigation is ongoing and urged any witnesses to come forward.
“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area,” Sergeant Kerr added.
