On October 14, 1940, Mirjam Lewkowicz, a young Dutch Jewish girl, was born in Gouda. Tragically, just three years later, she was deported to Auschwitz, where she was murdered in a gas chamber after the selection process.

What Happened: The Story of Mirjam Lewkowicz

Mirjam Lewkowicz’s life was tragically cut short by the horrors of the Holocaust. Born in Gouda, Netherlands, on October 14, 1940, she was only three years old when she was deported with her family to Auschwitz in September 1943. In Auschwitz, after the selection, Mirjam was sent to the gas chambers, becoming one of the countless victims of the Nazi regime’s genocidal campaign.

Her story is a heartbreaking reminder of the millions of innocent lives lost during the Holocaust. Mirjam, like many others, was taken from her family and community in an act of unthinkable violence.

A Visual Reminder: The Ruins of Auschwitz

To commemorate her and others lost in Auschwitz, a short video showing the ruins of gas chamber and crematorium III at Auschwitz has been shared. This haunting video offers a glimpse into the places where so many innocent lives were extinguished, serving as a somber reminder of the atrocities committed.

You can watch the video here: Auschwitz Ruins Video.

    Closing Line

We remember Mirjam Lewkowicz and all the victims of the Holocaust, keeping their memory alive to ensure such atrocities are never forgotten. May their stories inspire continued efforts for peace and humanity.
