Riley Bockes, who was just three years old when her father brutally murdered her mother in 2022 and abducted her, is now living a happier life with her sister, Erikka Emmons, after years of hardship. In a heartwarming update, authorities shared how Riley is doing well, thriving in school, and overcoming the trauma she endured.

What Happened: Riley’s Ordeal and Rescue

In 2022, Riley’s life was tragically altered when her father, Brent Bockes, murdered her mother, Deanna Michelle Bockes, in North Carolina. After the murder, he abducted Riley, and the two went on the run. The FBI issued an Amber Alert, and just after the crash of their vehicle on Interstate 24 near Murfreesboro, TN, authorities were able to track down Bockes and Riley at a motel. Deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office rescued Riley, who was taken to safety and provided comfort by officers and local children who shared their clothes with her.

Riley was later taken into the care of her adult sister, Erikka Emmons, and has been living with her ever since.

    Justice for Deanna and Riley

This month, Bockes pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the killing of his wife, Deanna Michelle Bockes. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, a verdict that provided some solace to Riley and her family. Erikka Emmons expressed her relief, stating, “With him getting life without parole, I feel satisfied and just knowing he could never get out and never hurt Riley and our family.”

The plea and sentencing ensured that Bockes would never have the chance to harm Riley or anyone else again, providing some justice for Deanna’s tragic death.

Riley’s Life Today: A Bright Future

Now, Riley, who is in second grade, is flourishing in her new life with her sister and her family. “She is moving forward and overcoming the trauma,” said Emmons. “She is a strong little girl and I know she will continue to strive.” Riley loves school, has made friends, and enjoys playing outside on the swing set and with the cats at her new home. She now calls Erikka “Mom,” and Emmons says she’s amazed at how resilient Riley is.

“I’m just glad that justice has been served and he can’t hurt anybody else,” Emmons added.

Public Support: The Strength of a Community

The community that rallied to support Riley, including the deputies and the children at the motel, made all the difference in the early days of her recovery. It’s heartwarming to see how far she’s come, surrounded by love and care from her family and others who have helped her heal.

    Closing Line

Wishing Riley all the best as she continues to overcome her past and build a bright future ahead. This story may be updated with more information as Riley’s journey unfolds.
