ATLANTA — On Friday morning, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced a significant disruption on GA-400 southbound due to a vehicle fire near Lenox Road/Buckhead Loop (Exit 2). The shutdown began at approximately 8:00 a.m. as emergency responders worked quickly to manage the situation. By 8:30 a.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic after the fire was successfully extinguished.
According to GDOT officials, the vehicle fire occurred on the right shoulder, forcing traffic to halt temporarily. 11Alive Traffic reporter Doug Turnbull arrived at the scene and confirmed that the fire had been put out and that emergency responders had cleared the area.
For commuters caught in the backup, 11Alive’s Rachel Cox-Rosen recommended alternate routes, urging drivers to use Roswell Road or Peachtree Dunwoody Road to bypass the blockage. Drivers were also advised to re-enter GA-400 southbound via the Lenox/Peachtree exit south of the incident.
Stay tuned for further updates as the Georgia Department of Transportation continues to monitor traffic conditions.
