Patrick Mahomes Pulls Off Sneaky Play in Chiefs’ 31-0 Victory Over Raiders

In a dominant 31-0 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes showcased his playmaking ability with a sneaky move that completely fooled CBS announcers Jim Nantz and Tony Romo — and possibly the Raiders’ defense as well.

    What Happened?

During the second quarter, the Chiefs were faced with a crucial 4th-and-1 decision. As Mahomes set up for what appeared to be an attempt to get the Raiders to jump offside, he sent both tight end Travis Kelce and running back Brashard Smith in motion. The veteran quarterback, clearly frustrated with the situation, muttered expletives to himself, leading Nantz and Romo to believe he was simply trying to draw the defense offside.

Mahomes, however, had other plans. Instead of trying to get a penalty, he snapped the ball and handed it off to running back Kareem Hunt, who picked up the first down. The move left the announcers, and likely the Raiders’ defense, completely fooled.

    Chiefs’ Offensive Performance

Mahomes kept his cool throughout the game, finishing with a stellar 26-of-35 performance for 286 yards and three touchdown passes. He was replaced by Gardner Minshew II after the third quarter as the Chiefs built an insurmountable lead.

Mahomes was not the only one to shine offensively. Wide receiver Rashee Rice had a breakout game with seven catches for 42 yards and two touchdowns. This marked his first game back after serving a six-game suspension and recovering from a torn ACL. Marquise Brown also contributed with a touchdown reception.

    Raiders’ Struggles

On the other side, the Raiders’ offense was stifled by the Chiefs’ defense. Quarterback Geno Smith was limited to just 67 passing yards, and rookie running back Ashton Jeanty managed only 21 yards on the ground. The Chiefs’ defense was relentless in keeping the Raiders from getting anything going offensively.

    What’s Next?

With the win, the Chiefs improved to a 4-3 record on the season, while the Raiders dropped to 2-5. Kansas City will look to build on this dominant performance as they continue their quest for the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Raiders will need to regroup quickly as they face another tough challenge in their next game.
