The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office has identified the body discovered south of Roswell, New Mexico, on October 17, 2025, as Cheyenne Lewis Boldes, born on July 18, 1991. Boldes had been reported missing a month earlier, on September 17, 2025.
What Happened
Deputies responded to a call about a body found south of Roswell around 6:30 PM on Friday, October 17. Upon arrival, authorities confirmed that the deceased had been dead for an extended period of time. The scene was immediately secured, and the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division took over the case.
Investigation and Cause of Death
Undersheriff Charles Yslas provided an update stating that there were no apparent signs of injury on Mr. Boldes’ body that would suggest an obvious cause of death. Detectives are now awaiting toxicology results to help determine the cause.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the discovery, the case is currently being investigated as a homicide until further evidence suggests otherwise. As part of the investigation, at least one search warrant has been executed in connection with the case.
