Kelly Jordan Holleman, a beloved educator from North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, tragically passed away on the morning of October 22, 2025, following a car accident on NC Highway 16. The crash has left the community in deep sorrow as they mourn the loss of a dedicated teacher, mentor, and friend.

    What Happened

The fatal accident occurred around 7:00 a.m. on NC Highway 16 near Grindstone Lane in Wilkes County. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Holleman was driving her 2018 Honda CR-V northbound when she crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2019 Subaru Forester traveling south. The force of the impact caused severe damage to both vehicles, and Holleman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities confirmed that Holleman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which may have contributed to the fatal outcome. The driver of the Subaru, 61-year-old Laurie Christine UK, sustained critical injuries and was airlifted to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for treatment. Her current condition has not been publicly disclosed.

    Investigation

Preliminary findings from the Highway Patrol indicate that neither speed nor impairment played a role in the crash. Investigators suspect that the collision may have been caused by driver inattention or a momentary loss of control. No charges will be filed in connection with the accident, as it is not considered to be criminal in nature.
