Burlington, NC – October 22, 2025 – A motorcyclist was airlifted to a trauma center after a crash involving a deer in Burlington on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred at 4:06 p.m. near the intersection of US-70 and Bell Street, causing significant injury to the rider.

    What Happened

According to the Burlington Police Department, the motorcyclist, a 41-year-old Burlington man, was heading toward downtown Burlington when the crash occurred. A deer unexpectedly ran out from the right side of the road and into the motorcycle’s lane, leaving the rider unable to avoid the collision. The force of the impact caused the motorcyclist to lose control and fall.

    Emergency Response

Responding officers were immediately on the scene, and due to the severity of the crash, the motorcyclist was life-flighted to a nearby trauma center. Thankfully, authorities confirmed that the rider is expected to survive, though further details regarding his injuries have not been released.

    Public Safety Reminder

The Burlington Police Department issued a reminder to all drivers, urging them to remain vigilant, particularly as the fall season progresses. Deer activity increases during this time, as they migrate closer to urban areas to escape hunting and mating season pressures. The department emphasized that drivers should stay alert for potential wildlife crossings, especially in areas like city limits where animals may venture out unexpectedly.

    Community Impact

This accident has left the local community concerned, and authorities are continuing to urge all road users to be cautious during the autumn months, as deer-related incidents tend to spike. Local residents and motorists are encouraged to report any similar incidents or sightings of deer near roadways to help prevent further accidents.
