Andrew John Alameno, a devoted husband, father, and respected money market trader, tragically lost his life on September 11, 2001, at the age of 37. A beloved member of his family and a well-liked employee at Cantor Fitzgerald, Andrew’s story is one of love, dedication, and unfulfilled dreams, forever remembered by those who knew him.
Early Life and Family:
Born on January 12, 1964, in Philadelphia, PA, to Grace and Carmen Alameno, Andrew grew up in Wildwood Crest, NJ. He had three sisters—Mary, Susan, and Donna—and a brother, Carmen. After attending Wildwood Catholic High School and graduating from Mount Saint Mary’s College in 1986, Andrew moved to Westfield, NJ, to begin his adult life.
Andrew met his future wife, Sally Cohen, under a charming and romantic set of circumstances. He noticed Sally walking down Washington Street in Hoboken, NJ, almost every night, wearing a University of Miami sweatshirt. After months of seeing her, Andrew sent a friend over to ask if she owned that sweatshirt. The following day, Andrew asked Sally out. Their connection blossomed into love, and they eventually married, building a life together with their two children, Joe, age 5, and Nina, age 2 at the time of Andrew’s passing.
Life and Hobbies:
Andrew was a dedicated and loving father who always made sure to be home in time for family dinners. His children were his greatest hobby, and he dreamed of retiring to North Carolina to become a professional golfer. He started teaching his son, Joe, how to play and even made him a set of golf clubs small enough for a 5-year-old to use. Andrew also had a passion for Elvis Presley and was a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan. He was known for his kindness, warm heart, and upbeat personality, which endeared him to everyone who met him.
Career at Cantor Fitzgerald:
Andrew worked as a money market trader for Cantor Fitzgerald on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. He was well-respected at the firm and had many close friends there. On the morning of September 11, 2001, when Flight 11 struck the North Tower, Andrew was working on the 105th floor. Tragically, the impact zone made it impossible for anyone in the offices above to survive, and Andrew was one of the many Cantor Fitzgerald employees who perished that day.
Legacy and Memory:
Though Andrew’s life was tragically cut short, his love for his family, his achievements, and the memories he created live on. He is remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the love and joy he brought to his family and friends. His wife, children, and loved ones continue to cherish his memory, keeping his spirit alive through stories, love, and the cherished moments they shared.
Closing Line:
Andrew John Alameno’s life is forever etched in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy as a loving husband, father, and friend will never be forgotten, and his memory remains a testament to the power of love and family. May he rest in peace, and may the victims of September 11th never be forgotten. ️
