GLADEWATER, TEXAS — Actress Robyn Bernard, best known for her role as Terry Brock on the long-running ABC soap opera General Hospital, passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 64. Her body was found in an open field behind a business in San Jacinto, California, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

    What Happened

Authorities responded to a call on the morning of March 12 after Bernard’s body was discovered in an open area behind a business. Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Deirdre Vickers confirmed that a preliminary investigation revealed no signs of foul play, although the exact cause and time of death remain under investigation. Detectives continue to review the circumstances surrounding her passing.

    Early Life and Family

Born on May 26, 1959, in Gladewater, Texas, Robyn Bernard was the eldest sister of Crystal Bernard, the actress and singer known for her role on Wings. Robyn grew up in a family that valued creativity and the arts — a foundation that would guide both sisters into the entertainment industry.

Acting Career and Rise to Fame

Robyn Bernard made her screen debut in 1981 with a role in the film Diva, but her big break came in 1984 when she joined General Hospital as Terry Brock, the daughter of D.L. Brock (played by David Groh). Her portrayal of a young woman struggling with alcoholism and a failing music career captivated audiences. Over the course of 145 episodes, Bernard brought depth and empathy to her character before exiting the show in 1990.

Beyond General Hospital, Bernard enjoyed a diverse acting career that spanned both television and film. She appeared in popular series such as Simon & Simon, Whiz Kids, The Facts of Life, Tour of Duty, and Maigret. Her film credits included Betty Blue (1986), Roselyne and the Lions (1989), and Kings for a Day (1997).

Her final on-screen role was in 2002’s Voices From the High School, in which she portrayed a school psychologist — marking the end of an acting journey that spanned more than two decades.

    Later Years and Private Life

Following her departure from the entertainment industry, Robyn Bernard chose to live a quiet, private life away from Hollywood’s spotlight. While she remained largely out of the public eye, she continued to be remembered fondly by fans of General Hospital and the television industry.

Friends and colleagues have described her as a passionate artist with a strong sense of independence and a deep love for performance.

    Tributes and Legacy

News of Robyn Bernard’s passing sparked tributes across social media from fans, former co-stars, and television enthusiasts who remembered her as an integral part of General Hospital’s 1980s legacy. Her portrayal of Terry Brock remains beloved among soap opera fans for its authenticity and emotional depth.

Her sister Crystal Bernard has not publicly commented but is believed to be surrounded by family as they mourn this loss.

Robyn Bernard’s career serves as a reminder of the golden era of daytime television — a time when her performances helped define the genre for millions of viewers.

Robyn Bernard (1959–2024) will be remembered for her talent, grace, and the warmth she brought to both her roles and those who knew her. May she rest in peace.
