Oakville, Ontario | November 7, 2025-The arts community in Oakville, Ontario, and beyond is grieving the untimely loss of Shannon Lee, a 24-year-old musician, sound engineer, and arts advocate, who tragically took her own life on November 7, 2025. Shannon’s passing has left her family, friends, and the broader arts community devastated, as she was widely admired for her creativity, dedication to music, and deep compassion for others.

    Who Was Shannon Lee?

Shannon Lee’s love for the arts began at an early age and developed into a lifelong passion. She was an exceptional student, studying Integrated Musical Arts at Wilfrid Laurier University, where her dedication and creativity set her apart. Shannon’s musical talents and her ability to connect with others through her work in the arts made her an integral part of the local creative community.

Over the years, Shannon worked in several significant roles that showcased her skills and commitment to fostering inclusivity in the arts. She served as a Live Sound Technician at The Hub Kitchener, a Meanwhile Spaces Coordinator at ArtsBuild Ontario, and contributed to various organizations such as Numus Concerts and Innovative Arts. Through her work, Shannon helped elevate local musicians and played a vital role in creating inclusive spaces for artists of all backgrounds to thrive and express themselves freely.

A Legacy of Compassion and Creativity

Those who knew Shannon described her as a vibrant, authentic, and endlessly kind person. She was known for her ability to bring people together through her laughter, empathy, and, of course, her music. Shannon created an atmosphere where everyone felt seen and valued, and her presence was a source of light to those around her. She used her talents to build meaningful connections and was an advocate for mental health and inclusive art spaces throughout her life.

Though her struggle with mental health ended her journey far too soon, Shannon’s legacy lives on through the communities she helped create and the countless lives she touched with her art and heart. Her work continues to inspire those who were fortunate to collaborate with her, and her spirit will remain in the music, the spaces, and the people she supported.

    Final Thoughts

Shannon Lee’s passing is a tragic reminder of the importance of mental health and the impact that compassionate individuals can have on their communities. Her dedication to the arts, support for local musicians, and unwavering kindness will never be forgotten. Shannon’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations of artists and advocates.

Rest in peace, Shannon Lee. Your creativity, heart, and warmth will live on in the spaces you created and the lives you touched.
