Tangipahoa Parish, LA | November 10, 2025-The community is mourning the unexpected loss of June Volkman, a vibrant 76-year-old woman from Texas, whose life was tragically taken in a motorcycle accident on November 10, 2025, on eastbound Interstate 12 in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. Known for her boundless spirit, love of adventure, and the freedom of the open road, June’s passing has left a profound void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

    What Happened

At around 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling eastbound on I-12 was struck from behind by a Volkswagen. The force of the collision caused both the motorcycle’s driver and passenger, June Volkman, to be ejected from the bike. Despite both riders wearing DOT-approved helmets, June sustained catastrophic injuries and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The motorcycle’s driver, who was hospitalized with moderate injuries, is expected to recover. The Volkswagen driver was cited for following too closely, and the incident remains under investigation by the Louisiana State Police. The case will be forwarded to the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s Office for potential further action.

    Who Was June Volkman?

June Volkman was more than just a passenger on a motorcycle—she was a passionate adventurer who embraced life with open arms. Known for her kindness, generosity, and love of the open road, June had a deep appreciation for both her family and her friends. She was a person who lived life fully, always seeking new experiences, and her adventurous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

A relative shared a tribute saying, “June was full of life. She loved her family, loved to ride, and loved the freedom of the open road.” Her adventurousness, warmth, and spontaneity made her a cherished presence in the lives of many, and although her journey ended tragically, her spirit will continue to live on in the memories she left behind.

    Tributes and Public Reactions

As news of June Volkman’s passing spread, condolences poured in from across both Louisiana and Texas. Fellow motorcycle enthusiasts, friends, and neighbors shared touching tributes that reflected on her generous heart, her love for life, and the fragility of life on the road. Many expressed their sadness over her sudden death while offering their support to her grieving family.

This tragic incident has sparked a renewed call for road safety and awareness, especially regarding motorcycle riders, who are more vulnerable to accidents due to their exposure on the road. Louisiana State Police emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe distance, staying alert, and being mindful of the road, reminding drivers that even a momentary lapse in focus can have irreversible consequences.

June’s Legacy of Love and Adventure

Though June’s life was tragically cut short, her legacy of kindness, adventure, and love will continue to resonate with everyone who knew her. Her family and friends will forever hold onto the memories of her vibrant personality, laughter, and the moments she shared with them on her many journeys. June’s love for life, her generosity, and her unwavering devotion to her family will continue to inspire and provide comfort as her loved ones move forward without her.

    Final Thoughts

As the community grapples with the loss of June Volkman, her passing serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of sharing the road responsibly. Though June’s journey has ended unexpectedly, her spirit and legacy will live on through the people she loved and the lives she touched.

Rest in peace, June. Your adventure may have ended, but your love and kindness will continue to light the way for those who knew you.
