Denmark, SC | November 2025-Jarrett Davis has been sentenced to decades in prison after pleading guilty to the 2025 murder of his 25-year-old girlfriend, Megan Faith Bodiford, and for burning her remains in a shocking act of violence.

    Charges and Sentencing

On Monday, November 10, 2025, Jarrett Davis faced a series of charges, including murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, third-degree arson, and desecration of human remains. The court sentenced him to:

    • 43 years for murder
    • 5 years for possession of a weapon during a violent crime, to be served concurrently
    • 15 years for third-degree arson, to be served concurrently
    • 10 years for desecration or destruction of human remains, to be served concurrently

The sentences will run concurrently, meaning Davis will serve the longest sentence of 43 years for the murder charge.

The Tragic Events Leading to Bodiford’s Death

Megan Faith Bodiford was last heard from in late April 2024. Before her disappearance, she sent a chilling message to a friend, expressing fears for her life. “Call authorities if I don’t call you back in half an hour,” she said, believing that her boyfriend, Jarrett Davis, was going to kill her.

Authorities later used cellphone data to track down Davis, and Bodiford’s remains were discovered in a burned vehicle near Highway 70 and Turn Ray Road in Denmark, South Carolina. The discovery of her remains confirmed the worst fears of her loved ones.

    Community and Legal Impact

The case has rocked the local community in Denmark, where the tragic loss of Megan has left an indelible mark on her family, friends, and neighbors. Jarrett Davis’s guilty plea and subsequent sentence have provided some form of closure, but the emotional toll remains.

Authorities hope the conviction will bring justice to Megan Faith Bodiford, who was taken far too soon, and send a clear message about the consequences of domestic violence and the destruction of human life.

    Looking Ahead

While Davis is now serving his lengthy prison sentence, the family and friends of Megan Faith Bodiford continue to cope with the loss of a beloved daughter, friend, and community member. Their lives will never be the same, but they can take comfort in the fact that justice has been served.
