    Hanover, ON — November 2025
The community of Hanover, Ontario, is grieving the heartbreaking loss of three teenagers—17-year-old Damon Dennis Davis, 16-year-old Haley Nona-Lynn Keffer, and 16-year-old Tyson Brian Albert James Varley—who died in a devastating single-vehicle crash on November 11, 2025. The collision occurred around midday on Concession 2 SDR near Allan Park Road, between Hanover and Durham, leaving the region in shock.

    What Happened

According to the West Grey Police Service, the crash took place shortly after noon on a rural stretch of Concession 2 SDR. When emergency responders arrived, all three teens—Damon Davis of Hanover, Haley Keffer, and Tyson Varley of Holstein—were pronounced dead at the scene.

A fourth teenager, whose identity has not been released, survived the crash and was airlifted to a hospital in London. Police report the survivor’s condition as stable and improving, offering a small measure of hope amid overwhelming grief.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not yet released details regarding speed, road conditions, or other potential contributing factors, but officers continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.

    Who Was Damon Dennis Davis?

At just 17 years old, Damon Davis was known as a spirited, hardworking young man with a love for the outdoors and hands-on work. A widely shared memorial photo shows him confidently seated on an ATV with open sky behind him—a fitting symbol of his adventurous personality.

Damon spent much of his time at his grandparents’ farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for mechanics. His family described him as “a little boy with a huge heart,” full of loyalty, determination, and compassion beneath his rugged exterior.

He was on track to complete a Specialist High Skills Major in Automotive Service at John Diefenbaker Senior School, proudly following the automotive path of his father and grandfathers. He also worked a summer job at Durham Furniture, which helped build his confidence and independence.

Remembering Haley Keffer and Tyson Varley

Sixteen-year-old Haley Nona-Lynn Keffer is remembered for her warmth, friendliness, and the remarkable way she could bring people together. Her gentle spirit and kindness made her a beloved presence among classmates and friends.

Tyson Varley, also 16, shared Damon’s adventurous nature. He was known for his upbeat attitude, love of the outdoors, and enthusiasm for life. Both teens leave behind devastated families who describe them as bright, loving, and full of potential.

    Community and School Response

All three teenagers attended John Diefenbaker Senior School, where classmates, teachers, and staff have been struggling to cope with the sudden loss. In response, the school board deployed a 15-member crisis support team trained to assist communities experiencing tragedy. Students are receiving emotional support, grief counseling, and mental health resources.

Across Hanover and surrounding towns, grief has been palpable:

    • Flags have been lowered to half-mast as a tribute.

    • Grace United Church held a community gathering attended by more than 200 residents for prayer, reflection, and shared mourning.

    • Local social media has been flooded with memories, photos, and outpourings of support for the families.

    Investigation and What Happens Next

West Grey Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities have not issued any updates regarding possible contributing factors or whether mechanical issues, weather, or driver error played a role.

As the families prepare for funeral arrangements, the community remains steadfast in its support. Residents have been offering meals, condolences, financial contributions, memorial items, and compassion to those navigating unimaginable loss.

Local leaders emphasize the importance of unity, reminding the community that grief shared is grief softened.

A Community United in Grief and Love

The deaths of Damon Davis, Haley Keffer, and Tyson Varley have left an irreplaceable void in Hanover, Holstein, and surrounding towns. Yet through vigils, kindness, and collective remembrance, the community continues to honor their short but meaningful lives.

Their memories—full of laughter, drive, friendship, and youthful spirit—will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those they leave behind.
