RIVERSTOWN, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) — The Riverstown community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of 18-year-old Nayomi Singh of Huist Diren, who tragically died on Sunday afternoon in a devastating accident along the Riverstown Public Road. Singh, the only daughter of her parents, leaves behind a family shattered by unimaginable grief.

What Happened on the Riverstown Public Road

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 05:00 hrs. According to preliminary reports shared with Essequibo on the Rise, Nayomi was driving along the Riverstown Public Road when she reportedly swerved to avoid a reckless motorcyclist. In her effort to prevent a collision, she lost control, causing her car to crash violently into a nearby light post.

The right front (driver’s side) and right rear door of the vehicle suffered major damage, leaving the car severely wrecked after the impact.

    Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts

Local residents, shocked by the collision, rushed to the scene and worked quickly to pull Nayomi from the mangled vehicle. She was immediately transported to Suddie Public Hospital, where the attending physician sadly pronounced her dead on arrival.

Her body was later taken to the Suddie Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation into what led to the deadly crash.

    Community Reaction and Grief

The tragedy has cast a somber cloud over Riverstown. Residents described Nayomi as a bright, vibrant young woman with her whole future ahead of her. Her sudden passing has sparked deep sorrow across the community, with many expressing sympathy for her grieving parents — who have now lost their only child.

Community members have emphasized the emotional toll of the incident and called for increased road-safety awareness on busy public roads throughout Region Two.

Police Investigation and Road Safety Concerns

Authorities are continuing their investigation, focusing on:

    • The condition of the roadway

    • The mechanical state of the vehicle

    • The actions and behavior of the motorcyclist involved

    • Any additional environmental or contributing factors

The incident has renewed conversations about reckless riding and driving, particularly involving motorcyclists who weave unpredictably through traffic. Road-safety advocates stress that a single careless moment can lead to irreversible consequences.

Honouring the Memory of Nayomi Singh

At just 18 years old, Nayomi’s life was full of possibility. Her loved ones remember her as:

    • A joyful and kind young woman

    • Someone with ambition and promise

    • A daughter who brought immense pride to her family

    • A friend whose presence brightened every space she entered

As Riverstown mourns, community members continue to rally around the Singh family, offering compassion, prayers, and support during this devastating time.
