A violent home invasion in Burnley that unfolded over five terrifying hours has ended with a conviction, bringing a measure of justice to a survivor who endured extreme violence on the night of April 15. Bo Yang, a 41-year-old man from Sheffield, has been found guilty of multiple serious offences following a sustained and brutal attack inside the victim’s home.

The case, which concluded at Preston Crown Court, highlights both the severity of the crimes and the determination of investigators to hold the offender accountable.

    What Happened

Police said the incident began shortly after 11 p.m. on April 15, when Bo Yang was inside the woman’s Burnley residence. What started as a disagreement over finances quickly escalated into a prolonged and violent attack.

During the hours that followed, Yang threatened the victim with a knife, assaulted her, restrained her using items he had brought with him, and committed multiple sexual offences. Authorities said the ordeal continued until the early hours of the morning.

At around 3:46 a.m., the woman managed to escape when Yang’s attention was momentarily diverted. She fled to nearby neighbours, who immediately contacted police.

    Who Is Bo Yang?

Bo Yang is a 41-year-old man from Sheffield. During the trial, prosecutors described his actions as deliberate, calculated, and sustained over several hours.

The court heard that Yang had come prepared, carrying items used to restrain and harm the victim. His actions went beyond a spontaneous act of violence, instead showing a prolonged pattern of control, intimidation, and exploitation.

    Case Details and Evidence

Investigators relied on extensive forensic and digital evidence to build the case against Yang. This included CCTV footage, forensic findings from the scene, and data recovered from digital devices.

Police said digital evidence was particularly important in undermining Yang’s account of events. Investigators also analysed messaging and app data, including information extracted from overseas-based communication platforms, to corroborate the victim’s testimony.

This combination of physical, forensic, and digital evidence left little doubt about what had occurred inside the Burnley home.

    Survivor’s Escape and Community Impact

Officers praised the survivor’s courage in escaping and seeking help after enduring hours of abuse. Her actions were described as pivotal in bringing the attack to an end and ensuring Yang was arrested and charged.

The case has deeply affected the local community, with many expressing relief that a dangerous individual has been removed from the streets. Support services have continued to work with the survivor as she begins the long process of recovery.

Court Verdict and What Happens Next

At Preston Crown Court, Bo Yang was convicted on all charges, including:

    • Two counts of rape
    • Sexual assault
    • Robbery
    • Possession of a weapon

Following the guilty verdicts, Yang was remanded into custody. He is due to be sentenced on February 6.

Prosecutors said the conviction sends a clear message that serious sexual violence and home invasion offences will be pursued rigorously and met with the full force of the law.

Official Statements or What Happens Next

Sentencing is expected to reflect the seriousness and duration of the offences. While no court decision can undo the trauma of April 15, authorities say the verdict represents accountability and recognition of the survivor’s bravery.

Support organisations continue to remind victims of sexual violence that help is available and encourage anyone affected to seek assistance.
