Amy Schumer has announced that she and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, are ending their marriage after more than seven years together.

The comedian and actor shared the news on Friday via Instagram, posting a photo of the pair riding the New York City subway. Staying true to her signature blend of humor and candor, Schumer confirmed the split while emphasizing that it was made with mutual respect and care.

“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” Schumer wrote, adding that the two “love each other very much” and remain committed to co-parenting their son.

She asked for privacy as they navigate the transition, while playfully addressing potential speculation. Schumer clarified that the decision had nothing to do with appearances, success, or attraction, stressing that the separation comes with “all love and respect.”

She ended the message on a note of unity, writing: “Family forever.”

Schumer and Fischer were first romantically linked in 2017 and married in February 2018. In May 2019, they welcomed their son, Gene, who remains their shared priority as they move forward.

No further details about the separation were provided.
