Born and raised in Minnesota, Matt graduated as Valedictorian from Saint Paul Public Schools in 1999. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering from 1999 to 2003. Later, he pursued a Master’s in Teaching from Hamline University, completing the program between 2012 and 2017.
Throughout his career, Matt held various teaching and leadership positions. He served as a Teaching Assistant at Roseville Area Schools from 2011 to 2012 and worked as a Gallery Supervisor and Team Leader at the Science Museum of Minnesota from 2009 to 2012. His dedication to enriching the lives of students was evident during his time as a Math Enrichment Tutor with Minnesota Math Corps from 2012 to 2013, and as a Test Reader at Data Recognition Corporation in 2014.
Matt’s impact on education continued to grow during his time as a Student Teacher at East Ridge High School in 2014, and later as a Math Teacher at Spring Lake Park Schools, where he worked from 2014 to 2021. His dedication to teaching and his passion for helping students succeed made him a beloved figure in the schools he served.
