According to Staff Sgt. Rob Mallory of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Gomez was driving north on FM 1465 in a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500. While navigating the road, he failed to maintain his lane and collided with a concrete barrier. The impact caused the truck to roll over and come to rest on its driver’s side in a grassy median.
Vehicle Catches Fire, Driver Trapped Inside
After the vehicle came to a halt, it caught fire with Gomez still trapped inside. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the crash and subsequent fire, Gomez was unable to escape. Emergency responders arrived on the scene but were unable to save him.
