The news of the demise of Greg Bates, a true speedway racer and a much-loved part of the racing fraternity, has left us in a state of profound grief. Greg was more than simply a rival; he was someone who was always willing to engage in conversation, share a joke, and share a good time with people who were in his immediate vicinity.
The easygoing temperament he possessed and the contagious sense of humour he possessed were the defining characteristics of his presence both on and off the track.
It was clear that Greg’s enthusiasm for speedway racing was at the forefront of everything he did. Aside from the fact that he raced with a lot of passion, dedication, and genuine enthusiasm for the sport, he also made it a point to connect with the people around him, and he was always ready to share a tale or a grin.
Not only was he a well-respected racer, but he was also a treasured friend to a great number of people due to his friendly and approachable demeanour.
During this time, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the whole Bates family. We are thinking back on the wonderful experiences we shared with him and the profound impact he had on the racetrack community.
We shall miss you very much, Greg, but your spirit and the happiness that you offered to other people will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing you.
