Leland Taylor, 38, has been named by the Lubbock Police Department as the victim of a crash that occurred early on Wednesday morning, October 16, 2024.
According to the LPD, police were alerted to a car and pickup truck collision at 2:11 a.m. while they were searching for a careless driver. In the 3600 block of South Loop 289, a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Ricardo Ferreyra was heading west in the eastbound lanes, according to LPD. According to the LPD, Taylor was traveling in the appropriate lanes when the cars collided.
On the spot, Taylor was declared dead. Police said 29-year-old truck passenger Kirstin Gallemore was moderately injured. EMS transported her to University Medical Center.
After Ferreyra suffered severe injuries, EMS transported him to Covenant Medical Center. The inquiry is still ongoing, according to LPD.
