Joe Koff Death :It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Koff, a man who dedicated much of his life to professional wrestling, most notably as the Chief Operating Officer of Ring of Honor (ROH). Joe passed away on October 15, 2024, at the age of 73, after a battle with cancer. His contribution to the wrestling industry, especially during his tenure with ROH under the ownership of Sinclair Broadcasting, cannot be overstated.
During difficult times, Joe was an essential part of the team that prevented ROH from going out of business. It was his unflinching commitment to wrestling and his passion for the sport that saved the organization on multiple times between the years 2012 and 2022. Joe was crucial in ensuring that the promotion continued to be a place where wrestlers could make a livelihood, even when it was not simple or financially beneficial for Sinclair Broadcasting. He was the driving factor behind Sinclair’s acquisition of ROH, and he was also responsible for insuring that its continued existence. During the challenging years of the epidemic, he went above and above what was expected of him.
Joe was more than simply a successful businessman to those of us fortunate enough to have known him; he was a good-hearted individual who truly enjoyed wrestling. Joe and I have a lot of time together, and among our many wonderful memories is the night that ROH played in Madison Square Garden on April 6, 2019, which we both agreed was the best night of our lives
