In connection with the death of a child who was 23 months old and lived in Dungannon, three people have been charged with the crime.
It was on Sunday, October 13th, when the body of Tavia Michella Ximenes Da Costa was discovered in the Windmill Court neighbourhood. The charges of murder and cruelty to children have been brought against a man who is 29 years old.
Manslaughter charges have been brought against a lady who is 21 years old.They are both charged with cruelty to children and causing or enabling the death of a child. This woman and another woman, who is 24 years old, are both accused of these crimes.
On Thursday, October 17th, all three of them are scheduled to make an appearance before the Strabane Magistrates Court.Earlier this week, on Wednesday, a community worker from Dungannon had requested that prayers be made for the young child. According to Roy Setiawan, who is affiliated with the Timorese Association Inclusive Support NI, “This is exceptionally upsetting and shocking to our community.”
