It is with great regret that we inform you of the passing of Larry Coven, a beloved alumnus of Second City Chicago. Larry passed away on Tuesday, October 15, at the age of 76. The Second City is extremely saddened to announce his passing. For a period of time in the late 1970s, Larry was an indispensable member of the Mainstage ensemble. During that time, he performed with renowned performers such as George Wendt, Jim Belushi, and Miriam Flynn.
Larry’s keen wit and comedic brilliance made a big influence during his time at The Second City. He contributed to the theater’s esteemed legacy of improvisation and sketch comedy, which is a rich tradition that the theatre is known for. As a result of his talent for connecting with audiences and his dedication to the art, he became a well-liked figure in the Chicago comedy scene.
In addition to his work at The Second City, Larry’s brilliance expanded to the worlds of television and cinema, where he played a wide range of notable parts.
