There has been a shooting in the northeast part of the city, leaving one person dead and numerous more injured. Around 10:30 on Saturday night, Fort Wayne Police were called to a shooting scene on Manistee Drive, which is close to Reed Road and runs between Saint Joe Centre Road and Stellhorn Road.
Multiple calls reporting gunfire in that area and people running away in all directions were reported to the police. As wounded patients started showing up at nearby hospitals, the FWPD responded to the scene. A
ccording to the initial police investigation, the incident happened at a large-scale gathering for high school students. After several partygoers were hit, one was declared dead on the spot. How many suspects are connected to the incident is presently unknown.
Eleven victims—including the deceased—have been identified thus far. All other victims are thought to be in non-life-threatening situations. In a statement on ParentSquare after the shooting, Fort Wayne Community Schools stated that one kid had died and several had been injured over the weekend. They stated there would be assistance for pupils but were unable to provide any details because the shooting is still being investigated.
The post-FWCS states, “Counsellors will be available to help students and staff.” “They’ll stay as long as it takes to aid in everyone’s recovery… Students will be upset, even though this happened outside of school. Our purpose is to assist them.
