Khayone Xavier Paken Death: Police in eMbalenhle, Mpumalanga, are appealing to the public for assistance in reuniting the missing toddler with his mother. Khayone disappeared on Wednesday, October 9, after he was last observed playing outside his residence. Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the spokesperson for the Mpumalanga police, stated that the toddler’s mother accompanied her son to retrieve water from a nearby school and then returned home. “Upon their return, the mother went inside the house to prepare tea and noticed that the child was playing outside in the yard,” Mdhluli reported.
Mdhluli stated, however, that she walked outside to check on her son after completing the tea preparation. She was struck by the greatest horror when she discovered that he was nowhere to be found. “The mother immediately sought assistance from neighbours, who joined in the search for the child without success,” said the investigator. Mdhuli stated that the subject was reported to the police in eMbalenhle, and a missing persons case has been initiated for further investigation.
“The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit is actively working on the case to locate the missing child,” he indicated. In the interim, Major-General Zeph Mkhwanazi, the acting police commissioner of Mpumalanga, has conveyed his apprehension regarding this incident that involved a minor. Mkhwanazi also urged the public to assist the police in the search for the minor by sharing any pertinent information. He also underscored the significance of community involvement in the endeavour to reunite the infant with his family and locate him.
