Born on March 12, 1995, in Grand Rapids, Tyler was the youngest of three siblings. He grew up exploring the beautiful landscapes of Michigan, developing a lifelong love for the outdoors. Whether he was hiking in the woods, biking along the Grand River, or camping with friends, Tyler found joy in nature and shared that passion with those around him.
A graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School, Tyler excelled academically and athletically. He was an avid soccer player, known for his skill on the field and his sportsmanship. His teammates admired his dedication and leadership, qualities that extended beyond sports into his everyday life.
After high school, Tyler attended Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in Environmental Science. He was passionate about sustainability and worked tirelessly to promote eco-friendly practices in his community. Friends recall his enthusiasm for educating others about the importance of preserving the environment, often organizing clean-up events and awareness campaigns.
Tyler’s impact extended to his work at a local nonprofit organization, where he dedicated his time to community outreach and environmental education. His colleagues admired his unwavering commitment and ability to inspire others to take action. “Tyler had a gift for bringing people together,” said a close friend. “He made everyone feel valued and motivated to make a difference.”

A memorial service will be held on November 5, 2023, at 3 PM at the Grand Rapids Community Center. Friends, family, and community members are invited to share their memories and celebrate Tyler’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Grand Rapids Environmental Alliance, an organization close to Tyler’s heart.
