On Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2024, a deadly encounter unfolded in the Kingston Shores condominiums located at 5500 Ocean Shore Boulevard in Ormond-by-the-Sea, Florida.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph DiFusco opened fire on neighboring residences and VSO units, discharging over 200 rounds over several hours.
The sheriff’s office responded to the scene after reports of gunfire in the area, and upon arrival, deputies identified DiFusco as the shooter.
Despite the extensive gunfire, no other injuries were reported, and authorities worked to contain the situation.
However, after several hours of escalating tension, a VSO sniper was deployed, fatally shooting DiFusco. The incident is being investigated, and the Sheriff’s Office is continuing to assess the circumstances surrounding the deadly exchange.
