Jacob Ruiz,Michael Johnson Obituary, Death; – The identities of the two individuals who lost their lives in a head-on collision on Interstate 43 have been confirmed, and the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office has provided additional information regarding the incident.
According to the sheriff’s office, the initial investigation indicates that Michael Johnson, 76, from Chilton, was traveling north in the southbound lanes of I-43 around 1:45 AM on Sunday. He struck a vehicle operated by Jacob Ruiz, 43, from Sheboygan. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.
A third vehicle was involved when it collided with debris from the accident; however, the driver and passengers in that vehicle were unharmed. The incident occurred in Manitowoc Rapids, close to the off-ramp at County JJ. The interstate remained closed for over seven hours. The Wisconsin State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
