Myeshia Triplett Obituary, Death; – A 26-year-old man has been charged with rape, murder, and multiple other offenses related to an assault on a woman in Wilmington’s West Center City in September, according to police reports.
Kyle Batson, a resident of Bear, was arraigned on Wednesday and is currently incarcerated. He was extradited from Maryland, where he was apprehended on September 12 for charges not related to the assault, coinciding with the discovery of 44-year-old Myeshia Triplett’s body.
Wilmington police reported that officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Catawba Street shortly before 9:45 AM that day to investigate a death. Upon arrival, they found Triplett deceased.

Triplett, affectionately known as “Muffy,” was born in Wilmington in June 1980, as noted in her obituary.
