Two men, identified as 35-year-old Erick Segura and 37-year-old Alonso Franco, lost their lives in a tragic multi-vehicle collision early Sunday morning in the Maryvale area of Phoenix.
The crash occurred near 73rd Avenue and Indian School Road around 2 a.m. According to police, the incident began when the 28-year-old driver of an eastbound Chevrolet Camaro attempted to change lanes to pass a slower vehicle. While doing so, he oversteered, causing his car to swerve into the westbound lanes and collide head-on with another vehicle.
Segura and Franco, who were inside one of the cars, died at the scene. A 16-year-old boy involved in the crash was transported to the hospital with injuries but is expected to recover. The 28-year-old driver of the Camaro sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized.
Video footage from the scene revealed two heavily damaged sedans and debris scattered across the road. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances of the collision.
