Jonathan Stanko, a cherished member of the Barstool Sports team and an Iona University graduate, has tragically passed away at the age of 32 after battling stage four stomach cancer. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy shared the heartbreaking news on Tuesday, honoring Stanko’s memory with a heartfelt tribute.
Portnoy described Stanko as a beloved figure during his nearly four years at Barstool’s New York offices—a distinction Portnoy admitted is “very rare at Barstool.” Stanko joined the company in 2021 as a production technician, quickly earning the admiration and respect of his colleagues.

In April 2024, Stanko was diagnosed with stage four Adenocarcinoma gastric cancer. Despite these challenges, Stanko displayed incredible resilience and joy, marrying his longtime partner in a special ceremony following his diagnosis.
